Matheran

The moment you step into this little town, you will be transported back to an idyllic old-world era of red-soiled roads, automobile-free pathways, and lush green hills. There are as many as 460 horses working in this popular hill station. Since vehicles are banned in the heart of the hill station, you either trek, take a toy train or make your way around on hand-drawn rickshaws or horseback. The hill station has a total of 36 viewpoints to enjoy alluring views of the Sahyadri mountain range.
